A new Firebird

On November 12th, during the 4th International Firebird Conference, in Prague, Firebird 2.0 was officially released. I was present at the inaugural session when the release was made visible on sourceforge and made available in several other sites.

Even though project organization waited a couple of days before the official release, in order to allow for the files to be replicated to all mirrors, the FirebirdSQL.org website was made unavailable, at least three times, during the following two days due to the demand for the final 2.0 release.

During the conference two new versions of Firebird were discussed and are expected to see the light of day during 2007. These will be 2.1 and 3.0.
